Long time readers know that one of my frustrations with politics today is the media.  Folks on the right say that there is a left wing media bias and those on the left claim that there is a right wing bias, but it is honestly bigger than that.  Truthfully, a better descriptor is the "Agenda driven media" a term coined by the left's favorite pundit to hate - Glenn Beck.  However, Beck is absolutely correct in this assessment.  You don't need to go any further than to look at the "big" stories over the last week.  You had all the networks (not just ESPN) reporting in breathless anticipation about where LeBron was going to play ball next year...when they weren't talking about Lindsay Lohan's expletive painted fingertips and histrionics in the courtroom.  Meanwhile they were ignoring stories about the continued bungling by BP and the Administration in the Gulf of Mexico (we are on day 82 in case you were counting), the UN's stony silence on Iran's stoning sentence that was passed on Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani for the crime of adultery (Iran IS after all a seated member of the UN's Commission on Women's Rights after all), slumping employment rates, a stagnant economy, the DOJ's lawsuit against Arizona and growing allegations of voter fraud in the 2008 election.  Even the Junior Logician (who is neck deep in typical teen-aged activities like sports, theater and friends) noticed.

The media has a bad habit of either over hyping things, reporting on something we could careless (sic) about, giving a biased opinion on a story, or making a story without anything to back it up aka Gossip. We might as well be back in high school and talk about what this girl was wearing and how it was out of style and how this guy is dating this girl after he dumped this other girl yesterday I mean come on people really???

The latest gossip column fodder to hit the agenda driven media is the latest racist rant by aging Hollywood pretty boy Mel Gibson.  I can most certainly understand Radar Online or E! reporting on this non-story.  They are after-all Hollywood Gossip outlets.  However, when the WaPo, AP and NPR all report on this as "news" something is sorely wrong with the state of the media today.  Yeah Mel Gibson is a racist b*****d - but then again so is King Samir Shabazz.  Who is he you might ask.  King Samir Shabazz is a former leader in the New Black Panther movement and one of the defendants who faced voter intimidation charges stemming from an incident in Philadelphia on Election Day 2008.  Andrew Breitbart posted a video from a National Geographic program that is just stunning in it's rampant racism....

Tommy Christopher (who questions some of Breitbart and Bill O'Reilly's reporting on this topic went to the NEW New Black Panther Party leader (King Malik's replacement) Malik Zulu Shabbaz and asked if he stood by King Samir Shabazz's statements in the National Geographic video.  He goes on a long laundry list of why blacks are justified in their anger...all originating with slavery which was ended over 100 years ago.  He goes on and on about how whites profited in the slave trade...never mind the fact that BLACKS were just as culpable in selling their brothers into slavery as the Gentiles and Jews...no - forget that FACT of history.  Then there is his taking a Bible quote WAAAAYYYY out of context (after whining about their quotes being taken out of context.....but I digress.  Not once does Malik condemn the remarks made by King Samir - he makes excuses and justifies, but he never EVER comes out and condemns the overt racism that Samir espouses as (at the time) a speaker for the New Black Panther Party.

However, this ugly racism is no where to be found in our "agenda driven media".  An honest person should ask why not.  How is this any different than the ugly racism found in Mr. Gibson's rant?  Why is this not news like the Gibson rant was given that King Samir Shabazz was charged with voter intimidation? Simple.  It does not fit the prewritten story line that only conservative movements are "racist".  They don't want blacks to be racist...it doesn't fit the storyline.

The agenda driven media no longer dabbles in the realm of reality - they are no where even close.  Theirs is a world of myth and fantasy that is as unreal as "Avatar" is.  Pandora is not real and neither is the idea of a fair and "independent" media.  Like Pandora, it simply has never existed.
