In what is clearly a body blow to Peter Corroon's campaign, the Utah Public Employees Association PAC has endorsed Governor Herbert's re-election.....

The 8,000-member Utah Public Employees Association’s political action committee said Wednesday that it is backing Gov. Gary Herbert in the November special election for governor.

The UPEA decision to side with Herbert over Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon marks the first time since 1992 that the group has sided with the Republican in the race.

The reason for the endorsement is revealing...

Jeff Horrocks, chairman of the UPEA Citizen Action by Public Employees Committee, said Herbert’s approach to managing Utah’s work force already has benefited state employees.

“He has maintained an open door for state employees,” Horrocks said, “and follows the association’s values for protecting jobs while preserving the public trust in a quality work force.”

If the UPEA does not trust Peter Corroon to do the job right, why should we?
