This week, Rep. Ryan Winkler (DFL-Golden Valley ) declared war on one of Minnesota 's major employers.  My friend Gary Gross has the details.  The tweet that shows just how ill informed the gentleman from Golden Valley is was this one....

Target earned Rep. Winkler's ire by daring to donate money to a newly formed center right activist group named MN Forward.  Rep. Winkler says that "MN political spending is new".  WRONG REP. WINKLER.  A quick visit to Target's corporate website shows that political giving is not "new"....nor is MN political spending new.  In fact Target Corporation has been giving to right and left of center activist groups AND political parties for YEARS...including but not limited to:

Democratic Leadership Council $75,000

Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) $44,600

California Democratic Party $13,000

California Republican Party $10,000

CBPA Issues PAC $50,000

Minnesotans for Better Roads & Transit $50,000

Minnesotans for Better Roads and Transit is an innocuous sounding name for a far left group that has been pushing transit in Minnesota (at the EXPENSE of roads) for years. Four years ago, their efforts culminated in a Constitutional Amendment that mandated that no less than 40% of the gas tax and vehicle registration dollars that the state takes in go toward “transit”. The 1000+ groups that supported Minnesotans for Better Roads and Transit included (but were not limited to) the SEIU, Education Minnesota, Transit For Livable Communities (note on their about us page that there is no support at ALL for roads), the Minnesota Environmental Partnership and many other left of center groups.

I find it more than a little intriguing that Rep. Winkler didn't seem to mind at all, when Target Corporation was making political donations to left of center causes like Minnesotans for Better Roads & Transit.  That's all fine and dandy I guess.  No, it is only now when Target Corporation donates center right MN Forward that it appears to be an issue for Rep. Winkler.  I wonder why that is.....

It just goes to prove something that conservative minded folks have long suspected about their liberal friends.  The liberals are ONLY tolerant of opinions that agree with theirs.  If you are of a different opinion.....well let's just say you are not allowed to HAVE one.....
