For The Children

For the children - that is the cry of the gun grabbers.  We need to protect these precious children, they say.  Well apparently, some children are more precious than others.  After all, there was no Congressional outcry over the death of 7 year old Heaven Sutton last July or when any of the other young victims of Chicago gang violence were killed last year....Chicago has the STRICTEST gun control policies of any city.

Her name never made national news. There were no headlines screaming for gun control. There were no teary eyes in the White House. And no one dared utter the obligatory, ‘it’s not supposed to happen here,’ as they so often do when the young and innocent are so tragically taken.

Heaven Sutton was seven years old when she was killed last summer, struck by a stray bullet as she sold candy and snow cones in her front yard on the eve of Chicago’s hottest day of the year.

Her grief stricken mother pleaded for peace. The mayor expressed his outrage. And Chicago—where gun violence is as routine as the L train into the South Side—buried yet another of its young. Heaven joined the more than 270 school aged children to be killed in Chicago in just three years.

Few outsiders will know the names on that list.

And no cries of outrage from Congressional Democrats and their fawning media gun grabbing fellows over the deaths of 178 children in Pakistan and Yemen.....deaths that came at the hands of the leader of their party.

During my  recent trip to Pakistan as part of our upcoming documentary film, Drones Exposed, I was struck most by the  stories told to me by children who had experienced a U.S. drone strike firsthand. The impact of America’s drone war in the likes of Pakistan and Yemen will linger on, especially for the loved ones of the  178 children killed in those countries by U.S. drone strikes.

War Costs’ latest video (with accompanying  report) brings attention to the children who have died as a result of drone strikes. The video names some of the children who perished in these strikes, and points out the obfuscation tactics of American officials who will not own up to the significant amount of civilian casualties that have occurred due to this legally- and morally-dubious policy.

Now many of my friends on the right will self-righteously cluck (as the person who sent me this link did) that the Democrats only get upset when it is white, suburban New England children who get killed and ignore the issue when colored children die.  Or they will bemoan that the left gets all worked up over 27 dead in Newtown but don't give a rats behind about the thousands of children killed every day by abortion.  However, they are missing the larger picture when it comes to the actions of this President and the Democrats leaders in Congress.

The President and Congressional Democrat leadership doesn't give a tinkers damn about ANY dead children....what they care about is advancing the agenda that gives them permanent power over the country.  These dead children are only useful to them as props in advancing an agenda that leaves the American people more dependent on Government for everything....including person protection.   It's really that simple.

And that is what should frighten people the most...even my friends on the left.  The ONLY thing that this President and his sycophants care about is advancing an agenda that puts the American people under their thumb.  They don't care about gay rights or the rights of the unborn.  They don't care about anything other than their power and how to cling to it at all costs.

A fact that people on BOTH sides of the aisle simply refuse to see.
