About That Separation Thing.....

The media and the left (pardon the redundancy) get their undies all in a major bunch when the LDS Church or Michele Bachmann's church get involved in anything that even remotely smells political. But when DEMOCRATS blatantly politic from the pulpit.....

"It felt appropriate having her here..." said the lead pastor in the glowing piece (on CBS News) about the visit.

There is no better example of the hypocrisy of the left when it comes to issues of church and state than their relationship with the Catholic Church.  The left and the media (ptr) are madly in love with the Catholic Church when they take a leftward activist stance on issues like immigration reform (the Utah Compact) but if they dare to preach the Bible and it's prohibition of homosexual "marriage" the long knives come out.

The only group that remains consistent in this debate?  The Alliance Defense Fund who is already preparing to defend Ebenezer Baptist in front of the IRS.

Valerie Jarrett’s partisan speech at Atlanta’s Ebenezer Baptist Church may have violated the IRS tax rules for churches’ political activities, said a prominent free speech attorney.

“It is problematic under current regulations,” said Erik Stanley, a senior legal counsel with the Alliance Defense Fund, which is campaigning to roll back IRS curbs on believers’ speech.

But if the IRS concludes that the church violated the IRS code, the ADF “will represent the church, just as it would represent any church for what is said from the pulpit,” he said.

“We believe in pulpit freedom,” he said.

As I said in the comment section of my previous post on the subject, respect of the "Wall" goes both ways.  If it is OK for Ebenezer Baptist to preach partisan politics from the pulpit, then it is OK for the LDS Church to do so as well.  As long as Democrats and the media (pardon the redundancy) turn a blind eye to their people doing it, then it needs to OK when the right does it.

Oh we on the right know that that will never be the case - which is why we will continue to point it out every time it happens - where ever it happens.
